Songs of the Ukrainian Jews

From the dawn of mankind, music has been a carrier of traditions, legends and customs, a way of transmitting knowledge about the past. For centuries, the songs of Ashkenazi Jews resounded over vast stretches of Central and Eastern Europe and carried with them their stories, longings and desires. During the workshop, Sveta Kundish, an outstanding soprano and cantor (synagogue singer) born in Ukraine, will present traditional pieces from the Ashkenazy tradition. No vocal skills are required to participate in the workshop.
