Night session @ Alchemia/ Frank London & Guests
03.07.2022 - 23:00 / Alchemia, ul. Estery 5The Festival is really on 24 hours a day – when the events at the Tent finish, when the concerts in the Tempel synagogue are over, JCF goes underground… to the best underground stage in Krakow, i.e. Alchemia club, which for years has been hosting night jam sessions which frequently finish in the morning of the next day. This will also be the case on the last night of the 31st JCF – the host of the evening will be Frank London, and other festival musicians will join him. As with jam sessions, you don’t know what’s going to happen. Except for one thing: This night will be unlike any other!
Pt 1: Brandon Ross Solo Performance
One of the leading creative musicians, active for over 4 decades, guitarist/composer Brandon Ross has worked and collaborated with the most innovative voices in modern music such as Henry Threadgill, Wadada Leo Smith, Cassandra Wilson, Jewel, Tony Williams, Arto Lindsay, The Lounge Lizards, Leroy Jenkins, Oliver Lake, Butch Morris, Bill Frisell, Me’Shell N’degeocello, Arrested Development, Archie Shepp, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Ron Miles. He co-leads the avant power trio, Harriet Tubman. More than simply ‘a guitarist’, Ross incorporates sound design to expand sonic and textural possibilities beyond the voice of a single instrument. “All music is communication. My music is communication through revelation.” – Brandon Ross
Pt 2: IFF Trio (Ilya Shneyveys, Francesca Ter-Berg & Frank London) Improv Jam Session
Three of the most creative traditionalists in the Jewish music scene, multi-instrumentalist Shneyveys, cellist Ter-Berg & trumpeter Frank London invite their fellow musicians to join in open, groove, improvised sonic explorations of klezmer, Yiddish and whatever other musics inspire us.
